x-ray theory :
| micron and sub-micron resolution : |
X-ray source resolution relates directly to the focal spot or the sharpest focus that the x-ray source can produce and thus the finest detail that can be projected on to an x-ray detector.
Recent independent evaluations and image comparisons have shown that X-Tek’s standard 2µm x-ray tube systems have equaled or surpassed competitors sub-micron or nano-focus x-ray tube systems for image quality and defect detectability. We encourage customers to send us samples and compare our images to our competitors images, then compare the price. We are confident that our 2µm systems will provide higher all round performance at a lower price when compared with equivalent performance systems.
| why is our 2µm x-ray source superior : |
Unlike most of our competitors, X-Tek has been designing x-ray sources and systems for almost 20 years. Our team of engineers have hundreds of years of combined knowledge in x-ray source and high voltage design; we truly understand microfocus x-ray technology and have applied that knowledge to our x-ray sources and integrated high voltage generator. We are the only microfocus x-ray system manufacturer that designs and manufactures all of the key components within an x-ray system.
We do not pretend that x-ray source resolution is the same as defect detection or feature recognition. You will find that our brochures provide both the x-ray source resolution and the defect detectability.
Due to detector resolutions and contrast sensitivity, some sample defects or features smaller than half the x-ray source resolution can be imaged. This is truly defined as the spatial resolution of the system. Some competitors however may confuse this with resolution of the x-ray source.
These two images are of a gold bond wire, inspected with our standard 2µm x-ray tube. Note the fine detail of the broken bond wire (left image) and the lifted ball bond above the die metallization layer (right image). Only results can prove to you the fine resolution and ultimate value for money that our systems provide.
